Does PPG sell retail synthetic grass?
What's
the first step?
Due to the high demand and operational costs for providing estimates
a charge $50 will apply. If you retain us to complete the project your
account will be credited of course. If you have a recent bid from a
competitor you will not be charged for an estimate. If you decide to
select us I will have a written proposal for you to sign within 1 day
of notification. The written proposal will thoroughly explain the scope
of work to be performed, cost/sq-ft, what specifically what services
we will provide to you.
How
involved with the installation do I need to be?
Once the synthetic lawn installation begins, you can be as involved
in the installation as you wish or let our expertise guide you through
the process.
Does
the proposed area need to be excavated?
It really depends on whether or not you want the synthetic grass to
be raised or flush with the existing ground. We can surround the green
with bender board or enclose it in a pre-existing enclosure.
What
is involved with the excavation?
The lawn will have to be prepared for excavation before we begin. This
involves removing your existing grass and some dirt to about 4" to 6"
below the existing surface.
Is
excavation included in the price?
Excavation involves removing your existing grass and dirt as well as
capping the existing irrigation lines. The cost of the excavation is
not included in the price of the lawn or green. This charge includes
removing all of the grass and a minimum of 4 of dirt below the
existing border and its proper disposal.
Will
I need additional drainage?
Whatever drainage problems you have now will be mitigated by replacing
what was excavated with the sub base material. Drainage is not a problem.
We are mitigating your water drainage problems by eliminating irrigation.
Rain water will be absorbed in the turf as the synthetic grass has approximately
8 lbs. of sand per square foot. You will never have mud or dirt come
through the turf because the base will never soften. The sub base will
always stay very hard.
What
about existing irrigation?
We will cap the existing irrigation lines per your instruction.
What
is the sub base?
Once the excavation is complete, we will install the sub base. The sub
base is a Class II base that is a 3/4" crushed rock with the fine granules
left in for compaction. There will be a minimum of 3" to 4" compacted
base throughout the project, and possibly more in some areas.
What
is the synthetic lawn material made of?
We use the highest quality polyethylene (PE) and nylon yarns for our
grass installation.
What
are the benefits in installing synthetic grass products?
ItÕs easy to maintain: no watering, mowing, edging or fertilizing no
standing water to attract insects safe for pets and kids, hypo-allergenic.
Why
is the job bid on a cost per square foot basis?
Bidding on a cost/sq-ft basis allows you to have direct control on what
you spend by deciding on how big you want the green to be. You will
never spend more for the material than what is used in the project.
By doing this, you will always know and control the cost of the job.
This is why we give you a square footage price, not an overall cost.
How
are bid prices derived?
Installation Service Charge
The cost of the installation is separate from the material price of
the lawn or green.
Grass Material Pricing
- Projects under 100 sq-ft will be priced at a minimum bid of 30 $/sq-ft or higher.
- Projects between 100 and 200 sq-ft can be priced anywhere from a minimum bid of 35$/sq-ft to 24 $/sq-ft respectively, or $3,500 to $4,800.
- Projects between 200 and 1000 sq-ft can be priced anywhere from a minimum bid of 30 $/sq-ft to 16 $/sq-ft respectively, or $6,000 to $16,000.
- Projects between 1000 and 2000 sq-ft can be priced anywhere from 16 $/sq-ft to 12 $/sq-ft respectively, or $16,000 to $24,000.
- The cost/sq-ft prices for Commercial and Large Residential for grass or putting green projects >4000 sq-ft prices can be significantly lower.
Bids are dependant upon a number of factors. The biggest factor in estimating project cost is the size of the project. The larger the project is the lower the installed $/sq-ft price will be. Although this is not a hard and fast rule the site will have to be assessed by me or my sales rep. Terrain, access to the site, distance of base material to the site, access of equipment and personnel are secondary considerations.
Is
extraneous vegetation a problem?
No vegetation will grow through the base through the synthetic grass.
The only vegetation that could happen would be seedlings landing on
top of the synthetic surface and growing in the sand inside the turf.
Any weed killer can solve that problem if it occurs.
Will
I have to clean-up?
We are conscientiously and obsessively cleaner before, during and after
the installation than other companies. We have all of our clients inspect
the work site before we leave the site.
How
do I get on the schedule?
A signed contract and 10% deposit is required to put you on our operations
schedule. All checks payable to Bay Area Synthetic Grass. One week prior
to starting the job an additional amount approximately 50% of the total
to procure materials for the job is required to proceed with the final
installation. The balance plus applicable California tax on the materials
will be collected upon completion.
Should
I sign up right away?
Lead time for installations will definitely increase as spring draws
near and the summer goes by.
Will
there be a charge for an estimate?
If you have a recent bid from a competitor you will not be charged for
an estimate. Due to the high demand and fuel costs for providing estimates
a charge $50 or $100 ($50 for a 50 mile radius or $100 for a one hundred
mile radius) will apply if we come to your site. If you retain us to
complete the project your account will be credited of course.
Is
there a warranty?
All of our installations are backed by an 8-year manufacturer warranty
on materials and a lifetime guarantee on the installation.
Is
Synthetic Golf Greens & Grass Insured?
To the hilt, we have $1,000,000 dollars of liability insurance and the
necessary worker's compensation in place so you as a homeowner are not
put at risk.
Where's
the showroom?
Our showroom is at 1605 Waxwing, Sunnyvale, California. It is available
for viewing by appointment only.
Does PPG sell retail synthetic grass?
In the grass business the smaller the piece you buy the higher the cost per square foot. These prices reflect the fact that the rolls of grass we receive are 12' or 15'. When we cut a pice smaller than the 15' or 12' dimension we incur a loss due to the fact that we may now be able to use the remaining piece. These prices reflect that reality.
